F Me, I Forgot To Save My Excel File – Drink This, Rogue Double Mocha Porter

February 18, 2011

Rogue. No wait, Double Rogue!

We work hard.  We f’in do.  Whether you spend your days lawyering it up in an office in Midtown, piling clothes at Uniqlo or crunching numbers in front of an eye-straining monitor there are days and weeks you want to forget.  Especially when all you want to do is get to your closet sized apartment but discover that the N isn’t running because of a police investigation.  So, how do you erase the memory of boring legal cases, customers who tear apart you neatly stacked piles or forgetting to save that damn Excel file?  Double Rogue style!  Read on.Rogue is a superstar in the beer world.  Mainly hailing out of Newport, Oregon they produce great beers like Rogue Dead Guy Ale and Shakespeare Stout.  They are even starting to dabble in the spirits and have quite a talented female distiller.

Regardless, their Double Mocha Porter is the type of beer you want to drink when your just done.  It can pretty much be described as a stronger than usual porter or what the craft beer folk call an imperial porter.  With an ABV% of 8, it’s not your typical beer.  And, you guessed right!  It’s dark brown beer that smells a bit like coffee and a lot like chocolate.  And, of course it tastes like all of that sweet dark caramel like chocolate goodness.

Since your obviously indulging drinking a quite powerful beer, you might as well cook yourself a steak to go with your drink, turn on Glee, Modern Family or It’s Always Sunny and move on with life.

Where did I get this beer?  Whole Foods Union Square – 4 Union Square South, New York, NY

I would like this beer if:

  • Chocolate is my downfall
  • Alcohol is king
  • I love charred beef

I would not like this beer if:

  • Dark beers make me sick, darker beers make me sicker
  • Rabbits are purple
  • I need to go to work tomorrow
